Mingle Montuesday!

I'm wondering what Meg thinks of my idea...since Mingle Monday happened on a Tuesday this week, maybe she'll get a kick out of my modified name... :) Anywho, thanks for the visitors from Mingle Montuesday. (just rolls off the tongue...) Go check her out over at Life of Meg. I try to participate every week since my pal Britt suggested it and I've never been disappointed. Just fueling the obsession...ahem... fire.

In other news, we were invited to dinner with a friend of Tyler's from USAFA, whose family just moved to the area (area as in...45 minutes away from us in midtown but still within city limits...ugh) and it was the highlight of my week. It was great to chat and catch up with people I haven't known for long at all, or very well, but who I'd venture to call "old friends". The military does that to you, I think. A big family. Speaking of such, the countdown is on.

Just 6 months before we move on. We skyped with Ty's parents last night and even though there seems to be more to complain about living in Houston than there's not, we're enjoying it. (Quick catch up for you first-timers...husband Tyler is a 2nd lieutenant in the Air Force and getting his Master's degree before starting pilot training in May/June)

We'll never get to relive these days. We'll never be in such a huge city again, we'll never be in grad school again (we as in Tyler), we'll never have only one car again...the list could go on. As soon as 6 months comes and is gone, we'll be tossed in the wind and never have the chance to go back to where we came from.

I can't wait. But yet, somehow, I can.

Thanks for stopping by--hope to see you again!

I am visiting from Mingle Montuesday - as you call it!

I am originally from the Houston area. Katy to be exact. My parents now live near Kemah.

When I left for college, I swore I would never move back to Houston. I had lots of complaints about it. But now, I wish I was back there. I keep trying to convince my husband that we should move there, but I have not yet succeeded.

I think you summed up Houston well. There is lots to complain about. And most people do complain more. But there is so much to do there! When you really think about it, the good does outweigh the bad. Though the traffic is still horrible.

Dude! Do you know where Tyler's flight school will be? We're up for a move in about 6 months as well.

And yes, I know EXACTLY what you mean about "old" friends. The military has this crazy ability to things both easier and harder at the same time. At our wedding, my great aunt told me, "Grow where you're planted," which is much easier said than done, but I'm trying. :) Good luck with all your upcoming transitions my dear!
